Deaf Wrestler Documentary (Goonga Pehelwan) 9/15/16 – DFW
The reason I am contacting you is to invite you for a multi-award winning South Asian Film screening and requesting to be our community partner on the event.
Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 7:15 PM at the Angelika, Plano, Texas
46 min/ India/Documentary / Hindi with English subtitles
A biopic documentary that follows India’s most successful deaf athlete on his quest to reach the Rio Olympics 2016 and become only the second deaf wrestler in the history of the Olympics to do so.
Every time we screen a film, we connect with community partners who work in the same space as the theme of our film. For “Deaf Wrestler” we would like to partner with you to help create awareness on the accomplishments & challenges of athletes with disabilities. We would also like to reach out to your networks through this partnership. While set in India and with a south asian flavor, the documentary is still universal in its appeal & with English subtitles for everyone to easily follow.
Indie Meme is an organization building communities around film and issues that need awareness. We do that by showcasing South Asian Indie Documentary & Fiction Films which are set in reality deal & with issues seldom tackled in mainstream cinema.
Indie Meme has been screening films in Austin & Dallas for over 3 years and received multiple grants from the City of Austin to support it’s programming. You can find out more about the organization here: http://www.indiememe.com
Thank you for your time! You can reach me direct at 214/529/3067 or write back.
