Building a Mentoring Relationship: Meta-Coaching and Teaming by Michael McMillion. You don’t have to be a mentor to benefit from this workshop. It is being held at the Hurst Public Library.

Participants will discover and discuss basic core principles to become empowered with a clear understanding of a meta-mentoring process and its application in real life and how to best communicate that to various stakeholders.

Participants will have opportunity to develop an analysis of problems and the defense of decisions made in their professional relationships. Meta-mentoring will be presented as a core foundation in talking about the actions of the mentee/protégé. Participants will engage in mentoring conversations and will have opportunity to brainstorm various techniques presented and results gained from the conversations about true-to-life scenarios that challenge core principles.

Meta-coaching, mentoring in general, and constructive feedback will be discussed as tools which empower the relationship.

Techniques to aid in identifying the core dilemma to aid the mentor in appropriate responses and conversation regarding the issue at hand will be discussed.

The topic of scaffolding mentee/protégé goals and learning with increasing performance skills will also be addressed.
