Housing Focus Groups for People with ALL Disabilities 11/2/17 – DFW

Focus Groups for People With Disabilities
Your Housing Challenges, Needs, and Desires

The University of Texas at Arlington has been hired by the North Texas Regional Housing Assessment (NTRHA) to conduct the HUD Assessment of Fair Housing for a consortium of 20 cities and housing authorities in the DFW area. This study will give the North Texas region, many new ways to look at housing data and will serve to inform local planning on housing in the future.

Housing for people with disabilities (physical or intellectual/developmental, mental health, brain injury, hearing impaired, sight impaired, etc.) is a key focus area of the assessment. It is very important for the future growth of North Texas that the housing needs of people with disabilities be documented in the study.

COMMUNITY FOR PERMANENT SUPPORTED HOUSING and the NTRHA (http://www.northtexasrha.com) would like to invite people with disabilities and one guest (family member/guardian) to contribute information about your housing challenges, needs, and desires at one of two focus groups. The focus groups will be interactive with activities to assist participants and their guests in expressing their ideas about housing.

Each focus group will accommodate 25 people with disabilities and one guest (family member/guardian) per person. People with disabilities who are able to attend without assistance are also welcome. Family members/guardians of children with disabilities of any age are welcome to attend without their children.

Please note that the facilitators of the session will not have time to work one-on-one with attendees. This will be a group discussion.

The results of the focus groups will be shared by the Assessment Team with the North Texas community, according to the their schedule of community meetings and publication of the report.
