Going Viral!

  • March 5-7, 2021: 11th-12th grades
  • April 23-25, 2021: 9th-10th grades

After much anticipation about when we would be able to offer our next in-person retreat, we are happy to announce we will be holding TWO Discovery Retreats this Spring, March 5-7 for Juniors and Seniors and April 23-25 for Freshmen and Sophomores.

Team up with other students who are deaf and hard of hearing to plan against future viruses and pandemics. Learn how and why a virus or a disease might spur a pandemic, study society’s response to past pandemics, then work together to develop strategies for prevention and protection. With Kelly DeRoche, Senior Materials Program Associate on the team at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals which was involved in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine, we’ll learn all about vaccines and how they work.

  • These retreats are for deaf and hard of hearing students in Texas
  • At the Peaceable Kingdom, Killeen, Texas
  • Each retreat will be limited to a maximum of 15 Students (7-8 per gender to keep numbers limited in each cabin)

CDC recommended safety measures will be followed, including masks required and proper social distancing at all times.

Limited spots available. Ask your teacher to complete a nomination form and submit it before February 24, 2021, for the March retreat and before April 7, 2021, for the April retreat.
