WHY: TSD’s Ranger Triathlon aims to offer kids, as well as
“first-timers”, the opportunity to experience a multi-sport event
in a safe and positive environment, with the entire course enclosed
within TSD’s campus.

While competition is always a part of any race, it is not the primary
focus of this event. The main objective is to promote a healthy,
physically fit lifestyle as well as for participants, their families,
and the community to have FUN!

Nick Bannon, Curriculum Specialist, and Eileen Barden, Staff
Interpreter at TSD, are serving as event co-directors and have been
working with sponsors and community groups to organize this inaugural
event. Bannon says, “TSD is the perfect venue for an event like
this, and we are excited to host this event where community members
have the opportunity to try a sport that Austin is well-known for.”
“And with a fun, safe and enclosed course, children, parents, and
adults can all participate in the race together,” adds Barden.

Event sponsors include Jack and Adam’s Bicycles, Communication
Services for the Deaf Video Relay Service (CSDVRS), RunTex, Swift Rock
Financial, Frost Bank, Texas Association of the Deaf (TAD), TSD
Foundation, TSD Booster Club, Sweet Leaf Teas, 24 Hour Fitness,
Torchy’s Tacos, and others. For more information and race details,

With TSD’s educational excellence and a strong belief in culture
and community, students form a unique identity based on their
individual strengths and talents, rather than their disabilities. TSD
is an environment where students learn, grow, and belong. For more
