Hearing Loss Resource Specialist – Austin

I am Olivia Bills, the Hearing Loss Resource Specialist here in Austin and
surrounding counties. I provide services, equipment demo’s, presentations,
information, resources, referrals and awareness on hearing loss issues. I am
also hard of hearing, and have been my whole life so being able to help the
community is a passion to me not just a job!

In my job position I can introduce you to various assistive listening
devices that can enhance the utility of hearing aid(s). I can demonstrate a
FM System for class settings, Bluetooth device for cell phones working with
hearing aids, Loop systems, and many people might not have seen these. The
glory of this is that this is a free service and I am not trying to sell
anything, just trying to help the deaf and hard of hearing become more aware
of what technology and resources are available through the state and assist
them in their needs. An office visit with me guarantees a wealth of
information, pamphlets, handouts and resources all at no charge.

I can also give a 15 – 30 minute talk (or longer presentation) about helping
people learn ways to live with their hearing loss whether it be mild or
severe. This talk would include state resources and laws that help this
population, showing and demonstrating assistive listening devices as well.
The information can help people in school, home or workplace. Another
service that I can offer is an in-service for professionals that will help
them learn communication strategies serving people with hearing loss.

Whatever the situation is I am happy to help anyone needing assistance that
are deaf or hard of hearing, so please feel free to contact me or pass on my
information to anyone you feel I could help.

ALD’s /Technology, Resources, Communication Tips, and more, all in your
reach….
