Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities Announces 2011 Awards

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – The Governor’s Committee on People
with Disabilities has announced the winners of the 2011 Lex Frieden
Employment Awards, which recognize employers who go above and beyond the
legal requirements in hiring, training and maintaining positive working
relationships with employees with disabilities.

Nominations for the awards were submitted by individuals and organizations
from communities throughout the state, and winners were selected by a panel
of judges familiar with disability issues from the public and private
sectors.

Winners of the 2011 Lex Frieden Employment Awards will be honored at a
ceremony dinner on Tuesday, October 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Austin
Doubletree North Hotel. The event is hosted by the Austin Mayor’s Committee
for People with Disabilities, and is open to the public by reservation.

Governor’s Trophy – Scott Tisdall, Manager of Walgreen’s Waxahachie
Distribution Center

Large Employer of the Year – Professional Contract Services, Inc. (PCSI),
Killeen

Medium Employer of the Year – Johnson Controls, San Antonio

Small Employer of the Year – Taco Cabana #278, Austin

Nonprofit Employer Award – Laredo Independent School District

Martha Arbuckle Award – Texas RehabACTion Network of the Coastal Bend,
Corpus Christi
