Do Interpreters Drive You Crazy?

Have you experienced frustrations when working with an interpreter, but don’t understand why you feel this way? Or, have you ever felt uncomfortable receiving interpreter services and can’t explain why?
In this workshop, geared toward people who are deaf or hard of hearing, you will learn how to work with interpreters, and about the interpreters’ code of professional conduct. Other topics covered in the workshop are:

* Definitions of key terms such as interpreter, certification, licensure, ethics, behavior, and grievance
* Differences between a qualified interpreter and someone who knows sign language
* How the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct applies to interpreters’ behaviors

This workshop is designed to give consumers who are deaf or hard of hearing more confidence when working with interpreters and to help them access the communication services they need for success.
