To Whom It May Concern:
Deaf Cultural Center Foundation (DCCF) is thrilled to announce our first-ever Deaf Art Festival in Kansas! The festival will include an exciting array of program activities and events for Deaf artists and teachers, Deaf Community and general public. Additionally, we are honored that a part of our Deaf Art Festival will be hosted concurrently with the popular Olathe Downtown Arts Festival, which attracts thousands of patrons, during the weekend of June 29th and 30th.
Famed Deaf artists, such as David Call, Nancy Rourke, and Ann Silver, as well as many emerging artists will come from all over the United States to set up booths and showcase their artwork during the Downtown Olathe Arts Festival.
Along with the incredible works of Deaf Art Festival will include:
1) Three-day Deaf Artists Retreat for artists and art teachers, prior to Olathe Downtown Art Festival, which will be held at Kansas School for the Deaf (KSD),
2) Wine & Cheese Soiree honoring current Deaf artists during the evening of Thursday, June 27th at DCC’s Marra Museum,
3) Deaf View Image Art (De’VIA) Children’s Program of activities that educates about and celebrates Deaf people and American Sign Language (ASL) which will be hosted during Olathe Downtown Art Festival, and
4) De’VIA Gala celebrating the remarkable achievements of the late Chuck Baird (a Kansas native and graduate of Kansas School for the Deaf (KSD) who became a renowned Deaf artists and actor whose passion influenced Deaf artists worldwide over several decades) during the evening of Saturday, June 29th at the Ritz Charles Hotel in Overland Park, KS. This Gala will include an auction of Deaf Arts and entertainment by Noah Buchholz, Jim Jones, and Ruthie Jordan.
We are inviting you to participate in our grand affair. DCCF’s Deaf Art Festival is a communitywide event and fundraiser to 1) expand awareness, 2) celebrate Deaf Art that humanizes Deaf people, and 3) raise funds. All proceeds for the event will directly benefit DCCF, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) foundation.
The Deaf Art Festival aligns with DCCF’s mission to provide educational and resourceful programs and activities to inspire a deeper appreciation and understanding of the loves of diverse deaf people, including their language, culture, experiences, achievements and contributions worldwide.
Our ability to work towards our mission would not have possible without all the support we have received from our community and businesses such as yours.
Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Thank you for supporting Deaf Cultural Center Foundation’s ?rst-ever Deaf Art Festival!
Sincerely,
Jeanne Ewald, Deaf Arts Festival Chair
